    Adam Williams Memorial

    The Adam Williams Memorial Scholarship was established at Iowa Lakes Community College in 2011. Family of Williams recall him as a talented artist who sanded his first bumper at age seven and painted his first vehicle at age 12. Requirements include full-time enrollment in Auto Collision/Paint Technology. Amount of award varies and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Ag Processing Inc.

    Ag Processing Inc. (AGP®) of Emmetsburg, Iowa, a farmer-owned cooperative engaged in procurement, processing, marketing, and transporting of grains/grain products, awards two $500 scholarships annually at Iowa Lakes Community College. Requirements include full-time enrollment in Agribusiness Technology, Agriculture Production Technology and minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA. Award must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Alliant Energy Scholars

    The Alliant Energy Foundation was formed in order to help improve the quality of life – now and in the future, in communities where Alliant Energy has a presence. The Foundation is funded by Alliant Energy Shareholders. The Alliant Energy Scholars programs was established at Iowa Lakes Community College in 2004. Requirements include full-time enrollment in the Wind Energy and Turbine Technology program and minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA. Preference may be given to minority students or women in this non-traditional area of study and to financial need as determined by the FAFSA.




    Alumni and Friends Association

    Since 1989 the Alumni and Friends Association has funded scholarships for Iowa Lakes Community College students. Requirements include full-time enrollment, child of alumni or returning alumni who has been out of college more than two years. Students must have earned a minimum 30 Iowa Lakes credits earned as of the upcoming semester. Award is $500 and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Alumni Dependent

    Iowa Lakes Community College has funded the Alumni Dependent Scholarship since 2006. Requirements include child of Iowa Lakes alumni, (for this purpose alumni are defined as Iowa Lakes graduates with degree or diploma). Award amount is up to $500 split between two consecutive semesters for tuition only and is determined by enrollment status (12+ credits = $250/semester; 6-11 credits = $125/semester). This is a one time only scholarship and is not renewable.




    Alyssa and Jeremiah Bargen Memorial

    The Alyssa and Jeremiah Bargen Memorial Scholarship is awarded in the spring semester at Iowa Lakes Community College. Requirements include full-time enrollment in accounting or business program at the Estherville campus. Award varies and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Avangrid Renewables Scholarship

    Created in 2017, the Avangrid Renewables Scholarship will support Wind Energy & Turbine Technology Program students with needed scholarship funds.  Award amounts vary and can be used for any educational expense.  Recipients must be enrolled full time in the Wind Energy & Turbine Technology Program, maintain a minimum GPA, and complete the scholarship application.  Preference is given to female students in this traditionally male dominated field.   Avangrid Renewables is one of the largest renewable energy companies in the U.S., with wind and solar plants in 22 states, and is proud to have hired Iowa Lakes students into our wind fleet for years.
     


    Avera Holy Family Nursing

    Avera Holy Family Health Services of Estherville, Iowa, established the Avera Holy Family Nursing Scholarship in 2007 to assist Iowa Lakes Community College nursing students achieve their goals. Requirements include Emmet County resident, full-time sophomore status in Associate Degree Nursing (RN) program and minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA. Preference may be given to candidates with financial need as determined by FAFSA results. Awards are $1,250 and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Black Knights Car Club Scholarship

    The Black Knights Car Club Scholarship was created in 2016 to assist students at Iowa Lakes Community College with their educational goals.  The successful recipient must be a full time student enrolled in the Automotive Technology or the Automotive Collision programs at Iowa Lakes Community College.  Awards will be made for $500 and will be applied to the students financial aid package during the spring semester of the academic year it is awarded.  Awards may used for any educational related expense.


    Bookstore

    Iowa Lakes Community College funds the Bookstore Scholarship at each of the five campuses each semester. Requirements include minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA and financial need as determined by FAFSA results. Award is $200 and must be used for books only.




    Carlos Ledesma Criminal Justice Memorial Scholarship

    This scholarship was established by family, friends, and program alumni of Carlos to honor his dedication to the law enforcement profession. His commitment to helping others and upholding the law serves as an inspiration to recipients of this scholarship. Requirements include full-time enrollment (12 or more credits) in the Criminal Justice program.




    Carrington Baker Laker Life Scholarship

    Carrington Baker was a student who touched many lives during his two years at Iowa Lakes Community College. He was a strong leader in the Laker Life Club at Iowa Lakes and a Youth Leader at Grandview Baptist Church. During his time at Iowa Lakes, Cary announced to the Laker Life club that his dorm would be open to anyone who needed a safe place to go, or just to come for fellowship with other ‘Laker Lifers.’ This scholarship will help keep that tradition Cary started.




    Century Club

    The Century Club Scholarship is awarded at Iowa Lakes Community College to student athletes. Award amounts vary. Contact Athletic Director Troy Larson at 800-242-5106 ext. 7915 for more information.




    Clay County Merit

    The Clay County Merit Scholarship was established at Iowa Lakes Community College in 1999. The Iowa Lakes Foundation hosts an annual golf outing with the help of Iowa Lakes employees and community committee members to fund this scholarship. Requirements include full-time enrollment, permanent Clay County resident, community service and minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA . Award amounts vary and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Clyde and Frances Christensen Memorial

    Clyde Christensen was a long-time DNR officer with a passion for the outdoors and Frances received a teaching degree from Estherville Junior College, now known as Iowa Lakes. Just prior to his death in 2002, Clyde established the Clyde and Frances Christensen Memorial Scholarship for students enrolled in environmental studies. Requirements include full-time enrollment in Environmental Studies and minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA. Award varies and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Clyde and Grace Sanborn

    In 1975 Clyde and Grace Sanborn, former area business owners, set up a scholarship fund. Over the years the fund has grown to award several $1,000 scholarships to Iowa Lakes Community College students. Requirements include full-time Estherville campus enrollment; Estherville Lincoln Central, Graettinger-Terril, North Union or Martin County West (student must have a Dunnell, Minn. address) graduate; minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA and financial need determined by FAFSA results. Award must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Clyde and Grace Sanborn High School Junior Student

    The Clyde and Grace Sanborn High School Junior Scholarship was established at Iowa Lakes Community College in 2005. Several $1,000 scholarships are awarded to high school juniors from Estherville, Ringsted, Gruver, Armstrong, Swea City, Terril and Graettinger, Iowa and also students with a Dunnell, Minnesota address attending Martin County West High School with minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA who are planning to enroll full time at Iowa Lakes Community College the fall semester following high school graduation. This is a competitive scholarship; application does not guarantee award. Award does not obligate recipients to attend Iowa Lakes Community College. Award must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Condon Family

    The Condon Family Scholarship was established at Iowa Lakes Community College in 1999 by Tony and Jody Condon of Estherville, Iowa. Requirements are full-time enrollment at Estherville or Emmetsburg campus as of upcoming fall semester; permanent resident of Palo Alto, Emmet, Dickinson, or Clay counties; minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA; community service and financial need by FAFSA results. Award is $500 and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Corn Belt Power Cooperative

    The Corn Belt Power Cooperative Scholarship was established at Iowa Lakes Community College in 2006. Corn Belt Power has a commitment to its service communities and renewable energy production. Requirements include minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA, Iowa resident and full-time enrollment in Wind Energy and Turbine Technology. Selection emphasis will be placed on candidate's potential for success and GPA. Award is $500 and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Dennis Hageman Memorial

    Dennis Hageman enriched student's lives at the Iowa Lakes Community College Estherville campus from 1967 until his retirement in 2000. Family and friends established the Dennis Hageman Memorial Scholarship in 2002 to acknowledge his impact on students. Requirements are full-time enrollment, plans to transfer to a four-year university, minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA and financial need determined by FAFSA results. Award amount varies and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Dickinson County Luau

    The Dickinson County Luau Scholarship was established In 2004 at Iowa Lakes Community College. The Iowa Lakes Foundation with the help of Iowa Lakes employees and community committee members hosts an annual Luau to fund this scholarship. Requirements include permanent Dickinson county resident, full-time (12+ credits) or part-time (6-11 credits) enrollment and minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA. Award amounts vary and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Distinguished Wrestler Scholarship

    The Distinguished Wrestler Scholarship was started in 2014 to recognize an outstanding sophomore student participating in the Wrestling Program at Iowa Lakes Community College.  Award is $500 per year for one (1) recipient.




    Don and Kay Schafer Memorial

    The Don and Kay Schafer Memorial Scholarship was established at Iowa Lakes Community College by their family and friends. Don was a graduate of the West Bend high school and Kay graduated from Mallard. They were lifelong members of the West Bend and Mallard areas. Scholarship requirements include a graduating West Bend-Mallard senior, planning to enroll full time at Iowa Lakes Community College, minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA and financial need determined by FAFSA form results. The Award is $500 to be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Dr. Bill & Marcie Frevert Scholarship

    The Frevert scholarship was established in 2016 with a donation to honor the 80th Birthday of Bill "Doc" Frevert by his siblings.  To be considered for awarding candidates must be a graduating high school senior from Palo Alto county with a GPA of 2.0 or higher.  Candidates can be enrolled full time or part time at any Iowa Lakes Campus.  Awards vary and can be used for tuition, books or fees only.


    Dr. LE O'Connor

    The Dr. LE O’Connor Scholarship was established in 1975 at Iowa Lakes Community College by Nancy I. O’Connor in his memory. Requirements include sophomore status, full-time enrollment in Associate Degree Nursing, financial need determined by FAFSA results and minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA. Award amount varies and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Duane Syverson Memorial

    In 2001 the Duane Syverson Memorial Scholarship was established at Iowa Lakes Community College. Duane worked in the Estherville, Iowa, area for over 40 years as a mason doing concrete and brick work. This scholarship encourages others to also enjoy this career. Requirements include full-time enrollment in Construction Technology. Preference will be given to incoming freshmen. Award amount varies and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Edmund and Opal Willis Memorial

    The Edmund and Opal Willis Memorial Scholarship was established at Iowa Lakes Community College by family, including daughter, Ellen Willis Miller. Edmund taught at Emmetsburg High School and Iowa Lakes Community College. Opal taught commercial art in the Cylinder and Emmetsburg high schools. Requirements include minimum 6 credit enrollment at Emmetsburg; Emmetsburg Public School District resident or graduate returning to the area; science, math or office/secretarial field; and minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA. Award varies and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Elevate Advanced Manufacturing Scholarship

    Elevate Advanced Manufacturing promotes great careers in advanced manufacturing.  In 2015, Elevate is offering (15) $500 scholarships to Iowa high school seniors interested in studying a manufacturing-related career at one of Iowa's 15 Community Colleges - 1 award will be made per college region.  Recipients will participate in a check-presentation event at their chosen community college and are invited to attend an event celebrating manufacturing leaders in Altoona as well as attend Iowa's Advanced Manufacturing Conference.  In order to be considered for this scholarship the applicant must be enrolled in the Welding Program at Iowa Lakes Community College.
     


    Emmet County Izaak Walton Conservation Scholarship

    The Emmet County Izaak Walton Conservation Scholarship was designed in 2014 for an Environmental Studies student from the five-county area Iowa Lakes Community College serves. Priority is given to students from Emmet County.  The successful recipient is a second-year full-time student (12 or more credits), who has and maintains a 3.0 GPA, and shows financial need based on the FAFSA. All eligible candidates are reviewed by the scholarship committee and awards are based on their recommendations.
     


    Emmet County Soil & Water Conservation District Scholarship

    The Emmet County Soil & Water Conservation District Scholarship was established in 2015.  The scholarship requirements are full-time enrollment in Environmental Studies, Water Quality, Sustainable Aquatic Resources or Environmental Science Transfer.  In addition the successful recipient must be a second year student at Iowa Lakes Community Colege with a cumulative GPA of 2.5or more.  Preference will be given to Emmet County residents.  Award will be made for $500 to be split between the fall and spring semesters.  Scholarship may only be used for tuition, books, and fees.


    Farm & Ranch Connection / Farmer Family Scholarship

    Established in 2017, this scholarship is awarded to a full time student enrolled in an agriculture program at Iowa Lakes Community College.  Chris Holder, Farm & Ranch Connection General Manager, stated "We established this scholarship to help further agriculture education and recognize that Iowa Lakes has a great Ag program.  Here at Farm and Ranch Connection our motto is 'Treating Farmers like Family'"  The award can be used for any educational expense and will be split between the fall and spring semesters.


    Farm Credit Services of America

    Established by Farm Credit Services of America in 2009 at Iowa Lakes Community College, the Farm Credit Services of America Scholarship demonstrates commitment to supporting youth who have chosen a career in agriculture production. Requirements include full-time enrollment; traditional (age 18-24) sophomore in Ag Production Technology; minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA; resident of Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Kossuth, Palo Alto, Pocahontas or Humboldt counties (Emmetsburg, Iowa, office service area). Award is $1000 and must be used for tuition only
     




    Fine Arts Scholarship

    The Fine Arts Scholarship is available to any student participating in Vocal Music, Band, or Art classes at Iowa Lakes Community College.  Students must participate in one of the Fine Arts areas, have a minimum GPA of 2.0, and be enrolled as a full or part time student.  International students will be eligible for this sholarship.  Awards vary and will be credited to the students account for the Fall and Spring semesters.


    Forssell, James Sr. Memorial Music Scholarship

    This scholarship opportunity was created as a result of the positive influence Mr. Foressell had on his students. He was a long-time music educator, originally from Estherville, Iowa. Established in 2012, Jim was an inspiring music educator, who expected - and received - the BEST from his students. This scholarship provides financial assistance to future music educators.

    Jim Forresell, Sr. was raised in Estherville, and eventually moved to Florida to teach music at Manatee High School in Bradenton, FL, for 34 years. He has touched the hearts and souls of thousands of students and has inspired not only students, but other educators. In 2011, Jim was inducted into the Florida Vocal Association Hall of Fame.

    He is greatly missed.

    This scholarship will support a full-time student, to be used for tuition, books, fees, or other required supplies/equipment, majoring in Music Education. The successful candidate must possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.




    Frieda Willett Memorial Scholarship

    Established in 2016 to assist Emmet County students attending Iowa Lakes Community College.  Awards vary and can be used to cover tuition, books or fees.  Preference will be given to students with a documented diability.


    Gaarde Hinsch Music

    Bertha and Delbert Hinsch of Estherville, Iowa, established the Gaarde-Hinsch scholarship at Iowa Lakes Community College in 1996. Their great love of music inspired the couple to award scholarships. Requirements are music participation and financial need by FAFSA results. Amount of award varies and must be used for tuition, books or fees. Contact the music department to make arrangements for audition (712) 362-7962 or (712) 362-7963.




    Gene Leonard Memorial

    The Gene Leonard Memorial Scholarship was established in 2002 to provide financial support to students residing in areas Gene farmed. This scholarship is administered by Iowa Lakes Community College regardless of where recipient attends college. Requirements include permanent resident and high school graduate from northwest Palo Alto County, Iowa, or southwest Emmet County, Iowa; full-time enrollment; minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA and financial need determined by FAFSA results. Iowa Lakes must receive your FAFSA data, even if you will not be attending Iowa Lakes. Enter code 001864 on your FAFSA to direct data to Iowa Lakes. This scholarship is not renewable. Awards vary up to $6,000.




    Goal Kick Soccer Scholarship

    The Goal Kick Soccer Scholarship was established in 2015 by Ben MacRae and Alex Pruitt.  The scholarship is given annually to a full-time student enrolled at Iowa Lakes Community College that is participating in the Soccer program. Preference is given to international Students with a passion for community service and volunteer work. Awarding is done for the Spring semester only.  Scholarship proceeds can be used for tuition, books or fees.  Award amounts are $500 and up to four awards can be made.


    Grainger Tools for Tomorrow

    Grainger, the leading broad line supplier of maintenance, repair and operating (MRO) products serving businesses and institutions, supports students who wish to become skilled workers in the future workforce. Since 2010, Iowa Lakes Community College has awarded two Grainger Tools for Tomorrow Scholarships each year.  Requirements include full-time enrollment in Welding Technology, Construction Technology, Wind Energy and Turbine Technology, HVAC, Power Sports & Power Equipment Technology, Farm Equipment and Diesel Technology or Automotive Technology; community service and specific academic achievement.  Preference given to honorable discharged U.S. Armed Forces veterans.  Recipients are awarded $2,000 to be used for tuition, books, fees, supplies or equipment.  Upon completion of studies scholarship recipients are also presented with a customized Westward toolkit from Grainger.
     




    Graphic Design Graduate Scholarship

    Created in 2016, the Graphic Design Graduate Scholarship was established to assist a graduating sophomore enrolled full time in the Graphic Design Program.  This scholarship has been funded by generous contributions through the We Believe Annual Giving Campaign at Iowa Lakes Community College.  These funds have been allowed to grow for several years and are now ready for awarding.
     


    GreenWay

    Perry and Teresa Pearson, long-time residents of the Iowa Great Lakes area, established the GreenWay Scholarship at Iowa Lakes Community College in 2007. The Pearsons are critically aware of and support the need to improve and protect the environment. Requirements are full-time enrollment in Wind Energy and Turbine Technology, Sustainable Energy Resources Management, Water Quality or Environmental Studies; minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA and financial need as determined by FAFSA results. Awards are $1,250 and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Guy Webber Trust

    Guy Webber, of Estherville, Iowa, established the Guy Webber Trust in 1991. Webber lived an extremely meager lifestyle and designated his estate provide scholarships for graduating seniors of Estherville Lincoln Central High School who will attend Iowa Lakes Community College. Requirements include minimum 6 credit enrollment, upper 25 percent of high school graduating class and financial need by FAFSA results. Award amount varies and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Hallie Drake Memorial

    The Hallie Drake Memorial Scholarship is awarded in the spring semester at Iowa Lakes Community College. Requirements include financial need determined by FAFSA results and full-time enrollment in accounting or business programs at the Estherville campus. Award amount varies and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Hawkeye Care Center Nursing

    The Hawkeye Care Center nursing scholarship was established in 2010 by the Hawkeye Care Center of Spirit Lake, Iowa. This scholarship addresses the need for nurses in long-term care. Requirements include sophomore nursing program status, full-time (12+ credits) or part-time (6-11 credits) enrollment, minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA, Dickinson County resident and financial need as determined by FAFSA results. Award is $500 and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Henry Torkelson

    The Henry Torkelson Scholarship honors Torkelson, a former Farm Equipment Mechanics instructor at Iowa Lakes Community College. Requirement is sophomore in Farm Equipment Diesel Technology. Award amount varies and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    High School Dual Credit

    Since 2009 Iowa Lakes Community College has funded the High School Dual Credit Scholarship for student who earned 3-13 credits in dual credit courses while in high school. Dual credit courses include Tech Prep, Post-Secondary Education Option (PSEO), College Prep and Career Academy. Award amount is up to $500 for tuition only and is determined by per semester enrollment status (12+ credits = $250/semester; 6-11 credits = $125/semester). This scholarship is not renewable.




    Holiday Express Corporation

    The Holiday Express Corporation Scholarship was established in 2000 at Iowa Lakes Community College. The over the road trucking company in Estherville, Iowa, is owned by Merle (Bubs) L. Johnson and Doug Johnson. Bubs and Doug, along with their employees, are dedicated to serving the food transportation industry as well as promoting quality education to future generations. Requirements include graduating high school senior planning to enroll full time, minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA and financial need determined by FAFSA results. Preference may be given to Estherville Lincoln Central graduating senior. Awards are $500 and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    HSED Scholarship

    Since 2001 Iowa Lakes Community College has funded the HSED Scholarship for Iowa Lakes HSED graduates. Award amount is up to $500 for tuition only and is determined by per semester enrollment status (12+ credits = $250/semester; 6-11 credits = $125/semester). This scholarship is not renewable. Students can only receive this scholarship once.




    Hugh Greig Memorial

    The Hugh Greig Memorial Scholarship was established in 2009 at Iowa Lakes Community College. Greig was a long-time benefactor and Foundation member at Iowa Lakes. Requirements include full-time (12+ credits) or part-time (6-11 credits) enrollment in Computer Programing or Information Technology and minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA. Awards are $500 and must be used for tuition, books, fees or other college expenses.




    Hughes, Brennan & Wirtz Insurance

    The Hughes, Brennan & Wirtz Insurance Agency in Emmetsburg started this scholarship in 2014.  This scholarship is established to assist an Emmetsburg High School graduate attending Iowa Lakes Community College as a full time student.  The recipient will be awarded $1500 to be used for tuition, books and fees.  Hughes, Brennan & Wirtz Insurance provides this scholarship to demonstrate their commitment to Emmetsburg High School Students, Iowa Lakes Community College, and the education of the local work force.




    Invenergy Wind Technician Scholarship

    Iowa Lakes is thrilled to announce The Invenergy Wind Technician Scholarship has been established. Four Palo Alto County students will be selected each year to receive a $500 scholarship.  “Scholarship opportunities for our students are greatly appreciated,” said Jolene Rogers, Executive Director Community and Business Relations, Iowa Lakes Community College.  “The Wind Energy students have tremendous employment opportunities after completing their two-year degree.”
    Donor investment in a student through scholarship yield several outcomes.
    “Students are more likely to complete their degree, as it lightens their financial burden. Scholarship recipients seem to have a sense of urgency to finish as someone other than their family has invested in their success,” Rogers stated. “And they often become future benefactors of others.”
     Palo Alto County students enrolled full-time in the Wind Energy Turbine and Technology program will be considered for this scholarship.
    “We take great pride in supporting organizations and educational institutions in the communities where we work and live,” said Invenergy’s Vice President of Development Kevin Parzyck.  “The Iowa Lakes Community College scholarship program benefits outstanding students in Palo Alto community and we are proud to be part of this work.”
     


    Investment in Ag Futures Scholarship

    This scholarship was established in 2010 as a result of industry partnerships and their commitment to building an educated workforce. Recipients must be enrolled full-time (12 or more credits) in Ag Production Technology, Ag Business Technology or Farm Equipment and Diesel Technology programs. Successful candidates have communicated a passion for agriculture and demonstrated their commitment through community service and projects at the college farm lab.




    Iowa Broadcasters Association Foundation Scholarship

    The Iowa Broadcasters Association funds annual scholarships to Iowa two-year or four-year colleges or universities for students enrolled full-time in a broadcasting program.  Award amounts are $1,000 and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Iowa Lakes Education Association

    The Iowa Lakes Community College Education Association, consisting of full-time faculty members, is committed to promoting and supporting quality education. Requirements include minimum 32 credits completed, full-time enrollment, minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA and plans to teach in major area of interest. Award amount is $200 and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Iowa State Bank Renewable Energy

    Iowa State Bank, of Algona, established this scholarship at Iowa lakes Community College in 2007 in support of the renewable energy industry. Scholarship requirements include full-time enrollment in the Wind Energy and Turbine Technology program and a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA. Preference may be given to students residing in the trade are of Iowa State Bank. The award is $1,250 and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Ivan and Janet Brown "Just Say Yes"

    The Ivan and Janet Brown "Just Say Yes" Scholarship was established at Iowa Lakes Community College in 2007 by Ivan and Janet along with Brownmed in Spirit Lake, Iowa. The Brown's encourage students to "Just Say Yes" to continuing their education. Requirements include Alternative High School diploma or GED, full-time enrollment, minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA and financial need determined by FAFSA results. Award is $500 to be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Jam the Gym Campus Visit Scholarship

    Established in 2017, the Jam the Gym Scholarship was established to reward students who attend the campus visit day held in February.  The students are asked to come to the Men's and Women's Basketball games and a name is drawn at halftime of the Women's game to determine the recipient.  The recipeint must use the scholarship for the current awarding academic year, be enrolled as a full time student and complete the Iowa Lakes Scholarship Application.


    Jan Schad Memorial Scholarship

    Created in 2017, the Jan Schad Memorial Scholarship is a testament to the importance of saving and taking care of things entrusted to you.  Jan's parents saved in order to purchase a farm that allowed their family to live comfortably.  Jan wanted this acknowledged.  "And roots, if they are to bear fruits, must be kept well in the soil of the land" - Pearl S Buck, The Good Earth. 

    The recipient of this scholarship must be enrolled either full or part time in Agribusiness Technology or Agriculture Production Technology and have financial need as determined by FAFSA.  The award of $500 may be used for tuition, books, fees, housing or tools.


    Jean King Memorial

    The Jean King Memorial Scholarship was established at Iowa Lakes Community College in 2005. Jean taught nursing at Iowa Lakes for 21 years and then taught the University of Iowa RN/BSN program housed at Iowa Lakes. Jean greatly valued higher education and was an inspiration and role model to those who knew her. Requirements include full-time sophomore in Associate Degree Nursing, minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA and permanent Iowa resident. Award is $1,000 and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Jennifer Howard Memorial

    In 2010 family, friends and Iowa Lakes Community College employees established the Jennifer Howard Memorial Scholarship. Jen was a former Iowa Lakes Laker Alternative High School instructor and Assistant Women's Basketball Coach. Requirements include full-time enrollment in Early Childhood Education, minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA and financial need determined by FAFSA results. Award is $500 and must be used for tuition or fees.




    Jim and Kay Billings

    The Jim and Kay Billings Scholarship was established in 1999 by Iowa Lakes Community College employees to honor former President Jim Billings. Requirement is financial need determined by FAFSA results. Award amount varies and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    John and Carole Lea Cotton Clay County Allied Health Scholarship

    This scholarship was started in 2014 by John and Carole Lea Cotton to support a Clay County student attending the Spencer Campus of Iowa Lakes Community College and enrolled full time in the Allied Health programs.  The award is $1000 per year and will be awarded in two installments for the first and second semesters.  The recipient will need to demonstrate need base on the FAFSA submitted to the College and maintain a 2.0 GPA.during the scholarship period.


    John and Johanna Thomas Memorial

    In 1997, the John and Johanna Thomas Memorial Scholarship was established at Iowa Lakes Community College. The Thomas’s lived in Estherville where John Thomas was an avid pilot and ham radio operator in retirement. They were very involved in the Wallingford Lutheran Church, where John Thomas served on church council and taught Sunday school for many years.
    The scholarship requires full-time enrollment in the Engineering Transfer program. The award amount varies and must be used for tuition, books or fees.
     




    Jonee Kay Rose Broughton Memorial

    The Jonee Kay Rose-Broughton Memorial Scholarship was established in 2004 at Iowa Lakes Community College. Jonee was a caring and dedicated Medical Technologist who touched many during her short life. Requirements include full-time incoming freshman, permanent resident of Clay or Dickinson counties, plans to transfer to a four-year university, school/community involvement and financial need determined by FAFSA results. Award amount is $1,000 and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Judith L. Johnson Music

    Established by the Johnson family in 2011 at Iowa Lakes Community College, the Judith L. Johnson Memorial Music Scholarship honors Judy's life devoted to teaching and music. Requirements include Emmetsburg High School graduate, full-time enrollment, music participation and minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA. Preference may be given to graduating senior and/or Judy's former piano students. Award is $1,000 and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Ken and Agnes Mills Memorial

    The Ken and Agnes Mills Memorial Scholarship was established at Iowa Lakes Community College in 1981. The couple of Estherville, Iowa, tragically lost their lives in a car accident. Ken drove the Iowa Lakes bus for athletics, music, field trips and special needs tours. He enjoyed working and being with students. Requirements include Estherville Lincoln Central High School graduating senior planning to enroll full time in a vocational program at the Emmetsburg campus. Award amount varies and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Knobloch / O'Connor Memorial

    The Knobloch/O'Connor Memorial Scholarship was established in 1990 at Iowa Lakes Community College in memory of Loren Knobloch and Tim O’Connor, former Iowa Lakes farm management students involved in fatal accidents. Requirements are full-time enrollment and sophomore status in Ag Production Technology or Ag Business Technology. Award varies and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    KOFAB Welding and Metal Fabrication

    The KOFAB Welding and Metal Fabrication Scholarship was established in 2004 at Iowa Lakes Community College. KOFAB of Algona, Iowa, a leading manufacturer of custom food-processing and material handling equipment, encourages students to pursue a career in welding and metal fabrication. Requirement is full-time enrollment in Welding Technology. Preference will be given to incoming freshman graduating from Algona, Bishop Garrigan, or North Union high school. Award amount is $1,000 and must be used for tuition books or fees.




    Kossuth County Scholarship Event

    The Kossuth County Event Scholarship was established in 1999 at Iowa Lakes Community College. The Iowa Lakes Foundation, with the help of Iowa Lakes employees and community committee members, hosts an annual event to raise scholarship funds. Requirements include permanent Kossuth County resident, full-time (12+ credits) or part-time (6-11 credits) enrollment and minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA. Award amount varies and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Lady Laker

    In 2006 former female student athletes, coaches and female athletics supporters established the Lady Laker Scholarship at Iowa Lakes Community College. Requirements are female student-athlete and sophomore status. Award amount varies and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Lendco Entrepreneurship Award Scholarship

    The Lendco Entrepreneurship Award Scholarship was created in 2016 by Lendco Mortgage, a division of The Lending Co. to assist students attending Iowa Lakes.  Lendco is dedicated to our communities and believes a strong educated workforce is essential to the growth of our economy.  The successful candidate will be enrolled full time in the Business Administration & Management Program and have a minimum GPA of 2.5.  Preference will be given for students residing in Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Kossuth or Palo Alto Counties in Iowa.


    Lonni Patten Memorial

    This endowed scholarship was established in 2000 by family, friends and Iowa Lakes employees in memory of Lonni Patten. Patten was a caring and dedicated Iowa Lakes Child Care and Early Childhood Education program student until the time of her death. Those who knew her were impressed by her love of children, her friendly outgoing nature, her helpfulness to her peers and determination to complete her education.
     Eligible candidates are students with a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA, enrolled full-time in the Child Care and/or Early Childhood Education program at Iowa Lakes Community College. Students must also display financial need determined by FAFSA from results.
     




    Marty Groth Memorial Art Scholarship

     Friends and classmates of Marty Groth, Estherville class of 1972, established this memorial scholarship to honor Marty who had a creative talent and a strong passion for art. He demonstrated this talent in many different forms while in high school and during his two years at Iowa Lakes Community College. This memorial scholarship was established in 2013 and is awarded annually to an inspiring student enrolling full-time in Art/Graphic Design. Requirements include a minimum 3.25 GPA. Scholarship is for tuition, books, supplies, and/or fees.
     




    Mary and Gene Allbaugh Memorial

    The Mary and Gene Allbaugh Memorial Scholarship was established at Iowa Lakes Community College in 2004 by the Allbaugh children, Suzanne, John and Kathy. The family lived in Emmetsburg, Iowa, where Gene and Mary established the radio station and were instrumental in bringing cable television and the Iowa Lakes Emmetsburg campus to town. This $700 annual scholarship is intended to reinvest in the education of citizens served by Iowa Lakes Community College. Requirements include full-time enrollment, minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA and financial need by FAFSA results. Award must be used for tuition, books, or fees.




    Mary J. Kahler Memorial

    Arthur Kahler of Bancroft, Iowa, established the Mary J. Kahler Memorial Scholarship at Iowa Lakes Community College in 2006. Prior to her death, Mary loved to travel, raise flowers, garden, and entertain her nieces, nephews and other family at the farm she shared with Art. Mary worked as a nurse for over 43 years and was instrumental in starting the nursing program at Iowa Lakes. Requirements include full-time nursing program enrollment; permanent resident of Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Kossuth or Palo Alto counties in Iowa and minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA. Award is $1,000 and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Maurice & Louise Broadie Memorial

    The Maurice & Louise Broadie Memorial Scholarship was established at Iowa Lakes Community College in 2001 by Maurice Broadie of Superior, Iowa, and his family as a memorial to Louise, beloved wife and mother. Following the death of Maurice in 2016 the Broadie Family has renamed and continued this scholarship to honor their parents.  Requirements are financial need determined by FAFSA result, full-time enrollment in nursing or agricultural program and minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA. Award amount varies and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Maxine Cass and Deanne Yackle Memorial

    The Maxine Cass and Deanne Yackle families established this scholarship in 2006 at Iowa Lakes Community College in memory of Maxine Cass and Deanne Yackle. Diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis at the age of two, Deanne concentrated on what she could do during her life, not what her disability would not allow her to do. Proceeds from Deanne's published children's book, Jenny and Me, helps continue funding this scholarship. Requirements include full-time (12+ credits) or part-time (6-11 credits) enrollment, Human Services/Disability Studies program student OR have a documented disability themself and financial need determined by FAFSA results. Award is $500 and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Medical Office Technology Dollars

    The Medical Office Technology Dollars Scholarship was established at Iowa Lakes Community College in 2010 by the former Spencer Campus BPA. Requirements include minimum one semester completed in Medical Office Technology, minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA and financial need determined by FAFSA results. Award amount varies and must be used for tuition, books or fees.


    Monsignor Clarence E. Farrelly

    The Msgr. Clarence E. Farrelly Scholarship was established in 1981 at Iowa Lakes Community College. Requirements include Palo Alto County resident, full-time (12+ credits) or part-time (6-11 credits) enrollment in nursing program, minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA and financial need determined by FAFSA results. Preference may be given to graduating seniors from Emmetsburg High School. Award is $500 and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Nathan "Willy" Wilson Memorial

    The Nathan “Willy” Wilson Memorial Scholarship was established in 2010. “Willy” was always very interested in farming and raising cattle prior to his untimely death in 2009. The family hopes this scholarship will help to do the same for an Iowa Lakes student.
    The scholarship requires a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA, full-time enrollment in Farm Equipment and Diesel Technology, Agriculture Transfer for the upcoming fall semester; and a resident of Emmet, Dickinson, Kossuth, Palo Alto, Martin (Minn.) or Jackson (Minn.) county. Preference may be given to a student focusing on beef.
     




    Norma Newhouse Memorial

    Family established the Norma Newhouse Memorial Scholarship in 2002 at Iowa Lakes Community College. Norma worked at the Emmetsburg Care Center as a certified Nurse Assistant for over 23 years. She greatly valued higher education and believed in quality care for all citizens. Requirements include non-traditional student (minimum 25 years of age), full-time enrollment and sophomore status in Associate Degree Nursing. Award is $500 and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    NorthStar Bank Scholarship

    The NorthStar Bank Scholarship was established in 2011 by NorthStar Bank of Estherville, Iowa. Requirements are incoming freshman as of upcoming fall semester; full-time enrollment , minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA and financial need by FAFSA results. Award is $1,000 for tuition, books or fees.
     




    Oliver M. Anderson Family Memorial

    The Oliver M. Anderson Family Memorial Scholarship was established in 2005 by Vickie Anderson Hakim, daughter of Marvel Anderson, retired Iowa Lakes employee and sister of Oliver M. Anderson, Jr. to help keep her family members’ memories alive while benefiting an Iowa Lakes Community College student athlete. Vickie Hakim, an Iowa Lakes alumna herself, participated in sports at Iowa Lakes and wanted to award a graduating senior athlete from Estherville-Lincoln Central graduating senior athlete, who is planning to attend Iowa Lakes. Requirements include minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA and plans to participate in an athletic program at the college. Award must be used for tuition, books or fees. Scholarship is renewable for second consecutive year.




    O'Round the Loch Run

    Since 2002 the annual O'Round the Loch Run has funded a scholarship at Iowa Lakes Community College.  Requirements include sophomore status, full-time enrollment at Emmetsburg campus, Emmetsburg High School graduate and minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA.  Award amount varies and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Palo Alto County Event

    The Palo Alto County Golf Scholarship was established in 1999 at Iowa Lakes Community College. The Iowa Lakes Foundation, with the help of Iowa Lakes employees and community committee members, hosts an annual golf outing to raise scholarship funds. Requirements include permanent Palo Alto County resident, full-time enrollment and minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA. Award amounts vary and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Palo Alto County Health Care

    In 2008 Palo Alto County Health System of Emmetsburg, Iowa, established the Palo Alto County Health Care Scholarship at Iowa Lakes Community College. Requirements include full-time enrollment in Medical Office Technology, Associate Degree Nursing, Health Care Administration, Massage Therapy, Medical Assistant, Medical Assistant Specialist, Paramedic Science, Pharmacy Technician, Practical Nursing or Surgical Technology; minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA and permanent Palo Alto County resident. Award amounts are $1,250 and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Pearson Jazz Scholarship

    The Pearson Jazz Scholarship was created by Perry and Theresa Pearson in 2013.  The goal of the scholarship is to help a full time student/musician at Iowa Lakes Community College with tuition, books and fees while they are participating in a Jazz instrumental music group.  One recipient per year will be awarded.  The award is $500 and will be split between Fall and Spring semesters.  Preference will be given to students with an interest in a career in the music industry.




    PEO Chapter AY

    PEO Chapter AY established this scholarship in 2005 at Iowa Lakes Community College. Founded in 1869, PEO is a national philanthropic and educational organization interested in bringing opportunities for higher education to women. Chapter AY of Estherville, Iowa, was established in 1896. Requirements include Estherville Lincoln Central graduating senior woman in top 50 percent of class planning to attend the Estherville campus full time. Preference may be given for demonstrated positive character and community service. Award amount is $400 and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Poe Family Ag Scholarship

    “We Believe and our love for the Iowa Lakes Community College Farm”, prompted Greg and Janet Poe to establish the Poe Family Ag Scholarship.  Greg and Janet were both long time employees of the college and during their employment were generous enough to set aside funds for a future scholarship.  After their retirement, they have decided to start awarding the funds to Iowa Lakes Ag Production students.  Award is given to a student enrolled full time in the Ag Production program with a 3.0 GPA.  Preference is given to a second year student.  Award to be used for tuition and books.


    Presidential Scholarship

    Iowa Lakes Community College funds the Presidential Scholarship for students with high academic ability. Requirements are full-time enrollment and meeting qualifications as shown on Iowa Lakes Website at www.iowalakes.edu. High school transcript (including GPA and ACT score) is required and may be scanned and attached to online scholarship application or sent to Iowa Lakes Foundation; 19 S 7th St; Estherville, IA 51334.  Award ranges from $3,000-$5,000 for tuition and is renewable for Presidential Scholars in good standing.




    Raymond Hasbrook Memorial

    In 2003, Irma M. Hasbrook, of Estherville, established the Raymond Hasbrook Memorial Scholarship at Iowa Lakes Community College to honor her late husband. The generosity of Irma helps to make education at Iowa Lakes a reality for students. Requirements include graduating high school senior planning to enroll full-time and financial need determined by FAFSA results. Awards are $500 and must be used for tuition, books or fees.
     




    River Valley Telecommunications Coop

    In 2000, River Valley Telecommunications Cooperative of Graettinger and Ruthven, Iowa, established the River Valley Telecommunications Cooperative Scholarship at Iowa Lakes Community College. Requirements include graduating senior planning to enroll full-time at Iowa Lakes; have a Graettinger, Ruthven or Wallingford telephone exchange prefix of 859, 837 or 867; and minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA. Awards are $800 and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Roy Powers Memorial Scholarship

    The Roy Powers Memorial Scholarship was established in 2012. Roy was employed at Iowa Lakes Community College for 30 years and thought highly of the college. This scholarship was established by Marilyn Powers, Roy’s wife to honor his memory and to build a better world. Requirements for the $500 scholarship include non-traditional or second year student, Emmet county resident, and enrolled full-time in Science with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Scholarship is applied toward tuition only.




    SAVE

    Since 2005 Iowa Lakes Community College has funded the SAVE Scholarship for students who participated in SAVE classes at Iowa Lakes while in high school. Award amount is $500 for tuition only and is determined by per semester enrollment status (12+ credits = $250/semester; 6-11 credits = $125/semester). This scholarship is not renewable.




    Senator Jack and Kay Kibbie Family

    Senator Jack and Kay Kibbie of Emmetsburg, Iowa, established the Senator Jack and Kay Kibbie Family Scholarship in 2007 at Iowa Lakes Community College. The Kibbies recognize and support the importance of agriculture and nursing in Iowa. Requirements include full-time enrollment in agricultural or nursing program; permanent resident of Emmet, Kossuth or Palo Alto counties in Iowa; minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA and financial need determined by FAFSA results. Awards are $625 for tuition, books or fees.




    Spirit of Harmony Music

    The Spirit of Harmony Chorus, member of Sweet Adelines International a worldwide organization committed to advancing the musical art form of barbershop harmony through education and performance, established this scholarship at Iowa Lakes Community College in 2010. Requirements include Iowa or Minnesota resident, full-time sophomore planning a music career in music teaching or music therapy and minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA. Award is $500 to be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Spirit of Reggie Jazz Camp Scholarship

    The Spirit of Reggie Jazz Camp Scholarship was started in 2014 to encourage the winner of the Spirit of Reggie Award, presented at the Iowa Lakes Jazz Camp every June, to attend Iowa Lakes in the Fall.  The recipient will be chosen by the Faculty and Staff of the Jazz Camp.  The Spirit of Reggie Award is given to a student who exhibits excitement and cooperation during the Jazz Camp.  The award is in memory of Reggie Shive, past Jazz Camp Clinician.


    Stanley O. and Alma Young

    The Stanley O. and Alma Young Scholarship was established at Iowa Lakes Community College in 1998. Requirements are full-time enrollment and permanent resident of Armstrong, Estherville, Graettinger, Gruver or Wallingford. Award amounts vary up to full tuition, books and fees.




    Starcom Starnet

    In 2006 the Starcom Starnet Scholarship was established at Iowa Lakes Community College by Starcom/Starnet of Graettinger, Iowa. Requirements include graduating high school senior planning to attend Iowa Lakes full-time, Starcom/Starnet customer or dependent of a customer and minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA. Award is $800 and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Student Leadership Student Senate

    The Student Leadership Student Senate Scholarship is awarded to Iowa Lakes Community College Student Senators. Amount varies and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Student Support Services

    The Student Support Services (Institutional Funded) Scholarship at Iowa Lakes Community College is for active SSS students who display focus and commitment toward completing their academic goals as full-time students. Requirements are financial need determined by FAFSA results and minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA. Awards vary and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Sustainable Energy Resources & Technologies (SERT) Scholarship

    Sustainable Energy Resources & Technologies (SERT)  Scholarship was established at Iowa Lakes Community College in 2015. Requirements include full-time student in Sert program, financial need determined by FAFSA results and minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA. Award varies and must be used for tuition, books or fees.


    Thomas Lee Bortvit Memorial Scholarship

       The Thomas Lee Bortvit Memorial Scholarship was created  in honor of an honest, hardworking, responsible young man who always thought of others first.  Thomas Bortvit's life was tragically ended on June 6, 2015.
    Thomas was a quiet young man, however when he spoke “Every word he said, mattered,” stated one of his best friends.
       Candidates for the scholarship must be enrolled at Iowa Lakes Community College and be involved in the Criminal Justice Program.  The successful recipient must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 or above, and show financial need as determined by FAFSA.  Candidates must also reside within Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Kossuth, Palo Alto counties with preference given to Emmet County residents.  Award is $500 and will be split between the fall and spring semesters, funds may be used for tuition, books and fees.


    Tim Higgins Memorial

    The Tim Higgins Memorial Scholarship was established at Iowa Lakes Community College in 2000. Higgins of Galva, Iowa, truly felt farming was a great way of life. Family felt that he would have wished to give back to agriculture and provide an opportunity for a student to enjoy farming as much as he did. Requirements include full-time enrollment in an agriculture program, minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA, financial need determined by FAFSA results. Award varies and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Todd Edmund Eslick "Eddie Flyer"

    The Todd Edmund Eslick "Eddie Flyer" Scholarship was established in 2010 at Iowa Lakes Community College. Todd, a 2000 Aviation alumnus, was affectionately known as "Eddie Flyer" by his classmates and comrades in pranks. At the age of 13, he was the youngest to complete ground school in Webster City, Iowa, and later became the youngest flight instructor hired at the college. Todd was known for his ability to identify the type of aircraft passing overhead by the engine sound and always departed his fellow pilots with a wish for "blue skies and tailwinds". Requirements include full-time Aviation sophomore and minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA. Award is $500 and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    Tom Spalding Memorial Scholarship

    Tom Spalding was the Director of Records and Registration at Iowa Lakes Community College from 1981 until his retirement in December of 2002.  He passed away in 2008 after a short illness.  Spalding's love for music was obvious through his participation in the Iowa Lakes Community College jazz band, Northwest Iowa concert band and Northwest Iowa jazz band.  Family and friends felt it only appropriate to establish a memorial scholarship to benefit students who share his passion.  One recipient is selected annually; the scholarship award varies and must be used for tuition, books or fees.
     


    TRIO Talent Search

    Iowa Lakes Community College funds the TRIO Scholarship for students who participated in Educational Talent Search and/or Upward Bound at Iowa Lakes and plan to enroll at Iowa Lakes in the fall semester following their high school graduation. Requirement is full-time enrollment. Award is up to $500 and must be used for tuition only. This scholarship is not renewable.
     




    Tyson's Sound of Learning Scholarship

    The Tyson’s Sound of Learning scholarship has been established by Robert Klepper and Family.  This scholarship is established to assist a student enrolled in nursing, pre-med or social services programs.  A preference will be given to students with documented disabilities attending Iowa Lakes Community College.  The recipient will be awarded $1000 to be used for tuition, books and fees.  The recipient must have an accumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher, be enrolled as a full time student in one of the selected programs and show financial need as determined by FAFSA.




    University of Okoboji

    This scholarship was established at Iowa Lakes Community College in 2009 for the benefit of Spencer High School graduating seniors. Award amount is up to $1,000 for tuition, books or fees.

    The We Believe Clay County Scholarship was established at Iowa Lakes Community College in 2015. This scholarship is open to all Clay County students attending any Iowa Lakes Campus and is awarded on basis of financial need determined by FAFSA results. Award amounts are $500 per year and must be used for tuition, books or fees.

    The We Believe Construction Technology Scholarship was established at Iowa Lakes Community College in 2006. Requirements are full-time enrollment in Construction Technology, be on track to completing 48 credit hours as of the coming spring semester, and minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA. The $500 award will be presented in the spring semester.

    The We Believe Craig Evert Memorial Scholarship was established at Iowa Lakes Community College in 2013. Craig's quiet leadership and inquisitiveness inspired friends and family to honor his memory following his unexpected passing in February 2013. Family and friends support future technicians through this scholarship opportunity. Recipient(s) share his love for learning and passion for renewable energy. Requirements include full-time Wind Energy and Turbine Technology student as of upcoming fall semester, minimum cumulative 3.25 GPA.

    We Believe Goodrum Memorial Motorcycle Scholarship

    The Allen Goodrum Memorial Scholarship was established at Iowa Lakes Community College in 2014  After Allen passed away in May of 2014, his family and friends established this scholarship in his memory.  Allen knew with certainty that the Emmetsburg campus was place for him to fulfill his dream to study motorcycles.  He was a confident and polite young man who was comfortable around people of all ages. His passion for learning was evident to everyone. Scholarship requirements include full-time enrollment in the Power Sports and Power Equipment Technology Program at Iowa Lakes Community College, having either a High School GPA of 2.0 or an Iowa Lakes GPA of 3.0.  Good conduct is required in order to receive the second semester installment.

    The We Believe J. Patrick and Michelle McCoy Family Scholarship was established at Iowa Lakes Community College in 2008. Requirements include second year student with sophomore status in Wind Energy and Turbine Technology as of upcoming fall semester, minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA and Iowa resident. Award is $200(full award made in fall semester) for books only.




    We Believe Laurene Kay Klepper (Wycoff) Memorial

    The We Believe Laurene Kay Klepper (Wycoff) Memorial Scholarship was established at Iowa Lakes Community College in 2008. The scholarship memorializes Klepper while benefiting students who are enrolled in nursing or pre-med programs. Preference will be given to student with a cancer diagnosis or a cancer diagnosis in the student's immediate family (parent, sibling, or grandparent). Requirements are full-time enrollment as of upcoming fall semester, enrollment in a select nursing or transfer progam, Iowa resident, financial need by FAFSA results and completion of cancer diagnosis summary within online application.     The Melba Byrkeland Memorial Special Needs Scholarship was established at Iowa Lakes Community College in 2007. During Melba's career (1972-1998) she was recognized by Presidents Reagan and Clinton for her unique program development based on philosophy of developing the whole person. Requirements include current or former SAVE/COC student, plans to attend Iowa Lakes full-time (12+ credits) or part-time (6-11 credits) in coming fall semester and financial need determined by FAFSA form. Preference given to Hotel/Restaurant Management student. Awards vary and must be used for tuition, books or fees.




    We Believe Military/Veteran Scholarship

    The We Believe Military/Veteran Scholarship was started in 2015 to assist a student that is a veteran or a spouse or dependent of a veteran.  The students must complete the Iowa Lakes Scholarship application and have unmet need as determined by the FAFSA.  A portion of this scholarship is made possible by a grant from the American Legion of Iowa Foundation.  Awards will vary and will be split between Fall and Spring semesters.  Awards must be used for tuition, books or fees.


    We Believe Music

    The We Believe Music Scholarship at Iowa Lakes Community College is awarded to students whose academic qualifications and musical abilities indicate they could make a significant contribution to the music program. Requirements include full-time enrollment, music participation and financial need by FAFSA results.
